Joensuun Mets\u00e4ylioppilaat ry has implemented safer space principles as of January 1, 2023, which must be followed at all events organized by the association.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Don't make assumptions about other people; instead, be open and listen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    • Avoid assumptions about another person's sexuality, gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, values, socioeconomic background, health, or other backgrounds.<\/li>\n
    • Give everyone the space to be themselves and understand that you don\u2019t know everything about others' backgrounds.<\/li>\n
    • Everyone has the right to participate in events regardless of their background.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      1. Respect others' personal, physical, and mental space.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        • Do not touch anyone without asking for permission, as you cannot know another person's boundaries without asking.<\/li>\n
        • Respect the right to self-determination.<\/li>\n
        • If you are asked to stop, stop. No means no.<\/li>\n
        • Don\u2019t ask personal questions unless you know the person well.<\/li>\n
        • Don\u2019t pressure others into doing things. Also, don\u2019t question others' choices regarding sobriety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          1. Do not speak ill of or criticize others.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n
            • All forms of discrimination are prohibited at Joensuun Mets\u00e4ylioppilaat\u2019s events.<\/li>\n
            • Everyone has the right to feel safe at Joensuun Mets\u00e4ylioppilaat\u2019s events without discrimination, harassment, or sexual, physical, or verbal abuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              1. If you have hurt someone, apologize, regardless of whether the hurt was intentional or unintentional.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n
                1. Everyone is responsible for ensuring a safer space.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                    \n
                  • If you notice harassment, support the person being harassed or ask for the harassment contact person to be present. All disruptive behavior must be addressed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    At Joensuun Mets\u00e4ylioppilaat\u2019s events, there is always at least one harassment contact person available to report incidents of harassment. The harassment contact person for the event will be announced for each event, and the contact person(s) will be present and ready to act. Any harassment incident brought to the attention of the harassment contact person will always be addressed.<\/p>\n
